Malaysiakini: Shah Rukh announces UMNO presidency push

I never cease to be amazed at the superb stupidity of Malaysians. Again, there is news to which I shake my head to, the only thing I can do besides rolling on the floor laughing.

It seems Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan is being conferred a Datukship by the Melaka Government. Now, quite why Indian citizen Khan is being conferred a datukship is beyond me and excluding the fact the Shah Rukh would never be addressed as Datuk Shah Rukh in India or any part of the world except jolly old Malaysia, I am stunned by the sheer stupidity of the person responsible for this superbly stupid act.

What has Shah Rukh has done for Malaysia? Has he gone on a worldwide tour, shaking his hips and singing 'Malaysia truly Asia'? I'll rephrase that. What has King Khan contributed to Malaysia to warrant a Datukship? Lee Chong Wei got one because he won a silver medal in the Olympics for Malaysia. Nicol David won one for her impressive reign in squash. I can go on and on and on and on but it continues to elude me where Shah Rukh deserves his Datukship. I'm not a politician. I'm a mere human. The workings of a politician's mind is beyond the comprehension of my mere mortal mind.

I hear people defending, saying Shah Rukh promoted Melaka in his movie, citing he shot One Two ka Four in A Famosa Resort, Melaka in 2001. Dude, get a life. That was 7 years ago and a single movie. Shah Rukh himself probably has forgotten he shot a movie here. I bet if you give Shah Rukh a map, he wouldn't be able to point out where Malaysia is, much less Melaka. No offence to King Khan but the fact is Bollywood and Shah Rukh churn out so many movies.

Shah Rukh is an actor. It's his job to act. That's what he does.

It seems that Shah Rukh wasn't here to collect his Datukship. Boo-hoo. That shows what he thinks of it. Now reports emerge that efforts are being made to contact Shah Rukh and bring him here to collect the Datukship and perhaps pose for a photo with the Chief Minister.

What is the meaning of this?!

He didn't come, so he doesn't want it. How are you going to bring him here? At gunpoint or on your knees, begging? The Datukship is being dishonoured, the value cheapened for the sake of a political stunt. Are we going to waste taxpayers money to send an entourage to Mumbai to persuade Shah Rukh to 'please, please, please, come'?

Come on la. Don't be so stupid. Why give him a Datukship in the first place? What has he done for Malaysia? This is a stupid act. If Shah Rukh deserves an award, let the Indian government award him one (they already did). Does Shah Rukh stay in Malaysia? No. So, why?

I don't understand this. I seriously don't. The Datukship is being thrown around like some sort of frisbee. Tun Mohd Khalil Yaakob should realize that the Datukship is a precious award that has its own respect. No disrespect to Tun Mohd Khalil, but please, sir, reconsider the Shah Rukh Award.

I wonder what's next? Datuk Shah Rukh Khan running for UMNO presidency?

Our politics is already like a bad Bollywood movie. Hahahahahah.

Oh Lost Lost Lots... Save your breath. The whole concept of Datukships has been abused through the practice of buying them and throwing them at every man and his dog/cat.

They are now meaningless gestures to elitism

Just like so much that is Malaysian... they are an embarrassment
