Malaysia-Today blocked, does SKMM think it is God?

Yes, yes, yes, Malaysia-Today has been blocked by SKMM (Suruhanjaya Komunikasi dan Multimedia). Everyone is up in arms over the blocking of their favorite news portal, the only one that has balls to report anything and everything without fear and favor.

Malaysia-Today has, well, endeared itself to all Malaysians by revealing the other side of the coin, telling the untold story, rocking the political establishment that is more used to having the media kiss it's behind.

However, does RPK care? Does Pete, pictured below, worry about the blocking as a loss of spotlight or income or publicity? You know what I think? Pete doesn't give a hoot what I think.

Pete has turned from a news editor to an icon of sorts. Pete is exactly the type of people we need, the type of people every government and country need. RPK is an icon now, an icon of opposition, just like Anwar, just not reaching the same stratospheric icon status of Anwar, not yet that is.

You have to admit, Pete has balls. Not just biologically since he is a man but figuratively speaking. By his in your face reporting of controversy, we lap everything up. He has given the politicians and certain lawyers sleepless nights, something he also causes for the police and the judiciary. He doesn't pull any punches, reporting it as it is.

Sure, some of his reports may be far fetched or paranoid even, but it strikes a nerve with everyone who is fed up with the present government, which is practically everyone. Look at Anwar's victory in Permatang Pauh. His thumping victory there, with that flood of a majority, shows that even UMNO members in Permatang Pauh voted for him. There is no way Anwar would get that majority without BN members also having voted for him which seems to show that BN is rotting from within.

Of course, good ol' Pete had hand in this. Controversial revelations and allegations about the DPM, the murdered Mongolian, conspiracy accusation all played the part nicely, turning tides of people against BN.

I have to say, whether one chooses to believe or not to believe is irrelevant. It all boils down to a simple thing. Freedom.

You see, SKMM act to block Malaysia-Today is playing God in Cyberspace. Now that is wrong, that is really wrong. SKMM is not Cyberspace God, it is just made of fat balding men in suits. I mentioned freedom. Freedom is intertwined with everything here. Pete exercised his freedom of expression when he reported everything he wrote on Malaysia Today. SKMM has no right to act God and curtail one's freedom of expression. SKMM is acting like the Politburo of Soviet Union's Stalin.

Cyberspace is a realm where everyone is equal, where none is richer or better than anyone. In cyberspace, freedom is everything. Freedom to speak, write, or even watch porn. That is what makes the Internet unique.

There is no God in Cyberspace. There is no King and court of cyberspace. And no one should act as such.

The government pledged not to censure the Internet but they are going against their word now. Why? Because Pete's reporting is damaging to them? If you are so worried, why not you start your own cyberspace campaign? Or are you too dumb to even switch on the computer?

This is the start of a witch hunt. From Malaysia-Today, SKMM would then focus on 'anti-government' blogs and start shutting them down, citing this and that and nonsense in whole. They are lighting up their torches, sharpening their pitch forks and swarming on the cyberspace, and Pete and Malaysia Today is the first to be burnt at the stake. Ridiculous, this is showing how low the government will go down to to, this shows the government will not hesitate to play dirty and kick you in the balls. Absolutely shockingly stupidly ridiculous!

The citizens of cyberspace has freedom whether to believe in Pete or not. They have minds to think with. We can tell apart lies and truths. We can see for ourselves. Pete had put out his article, if it is a lie, you tell your version and your side. We have minds, we can tell who is lying and who is telling the truth. The move to close down Malaysia Today is no less politically motivated. A desperate act of a desperate government, crumbling, reeling.

SKMM are a bunch of morons. There, now close my blog!
